Quote: So, this part of Angels2200 is wrapped up. A lot has changed in my life since its beginnings in 2002, some of major events being my wedding and the birth of my baby daughter, both of which changed my status from ’slacker webcomic artist’ to ‘responsible husband and father’. Sometimes its been incredibly rewarding, sometimes its felt like a burden, but ‘Angels’ has for the most part been an incredibly rewarding experience. I’ve met some really wonderful and creative people through the comic, and even some long lost family members. It’s been responsible for vastly improving my artwork (which was my original reason for starting) and has even provided me with work thanks to contacts made from the Angels based short film ‘Mitsabi’s Dream’. And I can’t forget the purely personal satisfaction of completing such a long form piece of work. Yes, the comic slowed down horribly towards the end, and I apologise to those who have waited through weeks without update. Rest assured, every week that went without an update added to my guilt. But I would have felt far more guilty rushing out product, or a comic that was substandard due to fatigue. I’m grateful to those who stuck with us until the end, and I hope you’ll continue to stick with as it continues. Now heres the bit some of you may not be happy with…Angels 2.0 will begin on Friday January 1st, 2010. Yes, that seems a long way off, but the reasons are many, the largest being I want to build up a backlog so as to avoid the issues that plagued the recent comics. Also, I want to take the pressure off myself a little, so as to improve the overall product, and really enjoy making the comic again. And to a degree, its working. I’ve already written over 11 strips of the new series, answering very early on some of the most pressing questions including ‘what is the Forseti document?’ and ‘How did Carelli survive?’. It’s feeling good, and flowing well. I’m trying to think of it as a season break of sorts, time to recharge and even rediscover the strip. Once again, I can only hope that most of you will join us for the relaunch. Wether you stay or move onto other comics, thank you for reading. Please stay in touch, either here, or though email at hansagan@gmail.com …I’d love to hear from you. Until the New Year…
...don't get me started.
I love this comic, I really do; I have every strip saved on my harddrive, the comic AND the forum are in my quicklaunch bar in Firefox...but I'm not sure I can take the better part of a year waiting for answers. It's not the quality of the comic, it's the waiting, the anticipating...I figured we'd have answers before the comic ended, which the protagonists would then have to deal with, but leaving the answers as cliffhangers with nine months or so before we get 'em?
I'm debating with myself whether to tough it out or call it quits and end the torture. It's gonna be close; best two falls out of three, neh?
Just sayin'...

Yeah, I'm more then a bit disappointed with this too. There should have been some answers.

There may yet be updates. Not necessarily to the comic itself, but to the Information pages, and backstory.
I only recently found this comic, which makes me a bit sad. Apparently every comic large I find dies within a month.
At least the next part is actually going to happen, though, right? He's not just leaving us to dry for eternity.

Well, Han left his e-mail address, so I sent him a message; it was late last night for me, I was tired, had just had a fight with the girlfriend...I tried to keep it civil and tactful as best I could and I think I mostly succeeded...
In it, I basically (okay, ACTUALLY) gave him a Bambi-eyed plea to not leave us hanging like this, to give us a bonus or to clear up the mystery early, a sneak preview, something, ANYTHING to hold (my) our interest slash keep (me) us from open revolt before the beginning of next year...let's hope something comes of that, cuz I think there might be enough popular support amongst the fanbase for such a move.
I admit, I have a tendency toward rabble-rousing; it's probably the Rebel Alliance fan in me (I have the tattoo to prove it). I'm doing my best to hold back and not foment rebellion, demanding what (I) we want isntead of asking politely for it...so...you're welcome.

Well, I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to say, so I'll play it safe and just mention that other Angels-related projects will be going on this year besides just the Part 2 comic. Maybe during 2009 some tidbits can be released to help keep up everyone's interests.
In the past, the forumites have co-written Angels stories to help past the time, so that's another option.
I already suggested to Han that he post sketch-work and other non-comic art in the interim so that the website will still get semi-regular updates.
...Oh! And I'll be updating Divided Soul this week!

I'm also not sure how much I'm allowed to say, but Han just e-mailed me back and told me a few things about the new series that have encouraged me to stick the heck around.
He didn't answer most of my...actually, heck, he really didn't answer ANY of my questions, come to think of it! But he told me something else that'll make the upcoming series quite worth my time.
So...you know...rock!

I wouldn't mind getting in on some of that action. Just sayin'.

Well, you could gather a group of fellow authors and craft a story in the RPG section of the forums, or leave it completely open and free-form and start a thread in the Gallery/Library section. It depends on how consistent you want the story to be and what kind of story would interest you to write. The Angels Universe has a lot of potential and little of it has been explored thus far.
Oh, and of course I'd be happy to write something with you.

Hmmm...come to think of it, as much fun as it would be, I think I'd want a bit more background or source material before I try to write something, just to avoid tromping on the toes of the story.
Granted, I haven't been reading the other comic that apparently exists for this universe, but regardless...there'z just not enough backstory for me to feel comfortable doing anything but creating another ship like the Outcast, a crew like the Icebreakers or their counterparts, and making them fight some Colonials while having internal drama...is there any background source material for the Angelsverse that lays it all out in semi-explicitly detail?

Well, there's an expanded timeline in the Library section of the forums. The Divided Soul website has links to fan-fiction, the political starmap that was once on the main website, and the RPG Resources website, which Han has actually drawn from on occasion when he needs details about ships and technologies.

From the beginning, until the end. Course the thing is I don't see this as an end. But hey at least it is not another forum crash, right?

Given what I've been told--I sure do wish Han would tell me if I can reveal it or not--it isn't. And he managed to get me pretty psyched for what's coming.
Hell, I could say what hooked me in a single eight-word sentence, but, well...
Heh.
