Well...I think we all knew this was coming.
...I'm just not sure we thought it'd be NOW.
Personally, I thought there'd be more. If this is the end, it feels like ending on a cliffhanger, and that annoys me. If there's more, it's going to have to come in the form of, what, mutiny or defiance on the part of our heroines?
Too many loose ends, too many unanswered questions; I seriously hope this isn't the end.

Wow...23 views on this thread and nobody has anything to say about this comic? *boggle* What, am I the only Angels fan left around here? Seriously?

In fact, there is not much I could say at the moment... this comic leaves many questions to ponder about.
I had expected something entirely different... that the Captain would tell the crew and let each member decide which side to join.

I really don't think this is the end. I think what Captain Rob is doing here is giving the Icebreakers "an out". I suspect that this is a "test" of sorts to find out exactly where the remaining Icebreakers' loyalties are before Rob tells them the whole story.
Once Rob tells them what she knows, there really won't be any turing back for the Icebreakers. But if she gives them a chance to walk away before she tells them, she'll know that they are truly in it until the end.
KEM "I can still taste the Yak" -- Dawn, Buffy Season 8 KEMart is back online, although still something of a work in progress.

I, also, doubt this is "the END." Whatever it is that makes the Icebreakers memorable, as in "historic cannon fodder" is yet to occur. I suspect it will be whatever they do after the captain maroons them.
Also what is behind the odd look on the officer behind the captain? Something is happening there.

Well, its close to the end for me, about ready to give up on Angels even though I've been enjoying the ride for some years now.
I don't understand what's going on in the writers minds. Loser's death was nothing more than a punchline to a joke. Wiskey still alive because she wanted to prove that she won't sleep with Kid, who offered so Wiskey won't crash into the enemy?? Captain Rob, reached out and grabbed defeat out of the jaws of victory.
Hammer, well guess she's still a prisoner that the cockroach can still use against Capt.Rob. Her ship is severely damage, pilots dead, fighters destroyed, and she sends off the Icebreakers rather than split them up between the remaining squadrons that I guess now have a short supply of pilots.
And lets wonder if the fleet commander may not relieve Capt. Rob of her command. Not that I'm impressed with whats she's done so far. How can she go up against the cockroach again with the shape the ship is in?
Many questions, but the way things are, not all that interested in the answers.

Though I can't imagine what it might be that could change our perceptions of these events so heavily, perhaps the final-- FINALLY!--revelation of the Forseti information might make everything finally make some sense.
I think it's true that our girls haven't been all that heroic. Not in any legendary sense, anyway. They may have survived lots of trials and carried on in the face of danger and all that yadda-yadda that people try to tell us is heroic in real life...but this is fiction; if I'm promised heroics, I expect Superman and Luke Skywalker style, yanno? Saving the day, beating the bad guy, rescuing the innocent, all of that business; the stuff anthemic marches are written for.
By that measure, our girls aren't really heroes: they haven't really saved or rescued anybody, and the bad guys they've defeated are mildly ambiguous. I don't know about you guys, but I don't recall much in the comic that explained quite why these colonies are the baddies, except that they want something that Earth doesn't. And Forseti has sounded, so far, like Earth might be the baddies all along, and our girls are on the wrong side; perhaps they'll defect or something. We REALLY need more information to make sense of this.
So...it's really hard to see the heroism, here...
...except in the other sense, of remaining intact and focused in the face of hardship and trial.
There, well...our girls are starting to come into the own. But since we've been told that the comic is in the home stretch, it does seem like something really uber is going to have to happen--and soon--to make the Angels anything other than novice, developing heroines.
I d'know...at once point, I think I too was on the verge of giving up on the comic. I'm not now...but I can see getting frustrated or disappointed. I'm not...but...I'm stubborn as hell (you might have noticed ).

Simply from the original tag line (legendary cannon fodder) I expected a story different from common, fairly ordinary, incompetent goof becomes hero. So I have been willing to enjoy the ride waiting for the expected knuckleball.

I've been sick for days, so no posts.
The girls could go back to earth, but five bucks say they hotwire the shuttle and go looking for Hammer.

I think I would enjoy that storyline.

In an unarmed shuttle with three days worth of provisions, facing an enemy mothership with a (reduced) fighter complement...
I just might take your bet.
Of course, assuming they do go after Hammer... the Hypatia is en route. After dealing with the Outcast and it's mutinous captain, they might pursue the enemy. So, at the moment the Sabretooths get within range of our brave little band and their flimsy craft, you could have the cavalry charge in.
But somehow I doubt it. I don't think I can think up an alternative at this point with all the stuff that has gone on, but I doubt that one's gonna happen.

From the comic's website:
Quote: Hi All,
As many of you have picked up, the saga of ‘Angels’ is winding up after many years of (sometimes intermittant) updating. In fact, after this update, theres only three comics left. Some of you have expressed some concern about how the story is ending, but I’d like to assure you that this is ‘not’ the end.
It was a little while ago now, so I expect that some have forgotten and some never heard, but the ‘Angels’ story will continue. I have already started work on ‘Angels2200: Part 2′, and I’m quite excited about the direction the story will go in. It will have a different feel and setting (or settings)to the original strip, there will be some new characters, but rest assured, I intend to wrap everything up…this is not ‘Lost’ or ‘The X files’. There is an ending, the characters will have resolution and (I’m pretty sure) it will all make sense.
I’m also hoping to make the new story tighter. ‘Angels’ was kind of a flow of conciousness piece at times, and with this new comic I’d like to take the chance to lock it down a lot more.
So, I guess I’m asking you to trust me…this is an ending in a sense, but its the bittersweet ‘Empire Strikes Back’ ending. And don’t worry, that doesn’t mean that the next installment will be packed with Muppets and Ewoks.
I almost missed it; figured maybe others might like to see it on the board as well.
Interesting.

Well, I'm willing to give Hans the benefit of the doubt here. Like you, I was thinking that this was ending with a whimper and not a bang. It should be interesting to see how things wind up for our ladies, and just what the new storyline in Part 2 will bring.

Mm...though I have to admit, it seems kind of arbitrary to divide it up here... Well, kinda, anyway.
I mean, with this many loose ends, it seems to me this ought to be the middle of the story, really. I suppose technically, it is. But, well...given the format, there's no real reason I can see to make it episodic, volumes 1 and 2.
I'm just sayin'.
I'm just dyin' to know some of the things I've been wondering about all this time. What is 'Forseti'? Can we REALLY count Loser out without seeing a body? Will we ever get Hammer back? Is Earth really the good guyz? Where do our girls end up next; will we still get to follow our favorites, or will some of 'em be going bye-bye?
And, darn it, will updates get a trifle more regular in the future?
All burning questions that, if not actually keep me up at night, at least keep me from missing an episode.
