It might just be a bad choice of words; she probably doesn't want the Icebreakers physically in her presence so much as able to listen. Perhaps "assemble the Icebreakers" would have been a better phrasing. Well we'll find out what Rob meant next page, hopefully. Quote: Quote: Of course it is possible that Rob wants to talk to the Icebreakers before she sends them after Toat and BG, but that just shows that there are more important things to be discussed. Like the fact that Hammer is still alive. Captain Rob has stated that she is going to come clean with the crew, she is going to have to as she is dragging them into Mutiny.
That's also very likely. "...what I'm about to order you to do is very, very illegal, but necessary. Any who want to refuse the mission may bow out now; nothing will be held against you." Captain Rob has said she is going to come clean with the crew, my suspicion is that she is going to tell the Icebreakers first. They deserve to hear that Hammer is alive first and in person. Quote: Quote: Compared to all of that I suspect that Toat getting away is of reletively minor importance. So I don't take it so much as a non-sequitur as "well, that problem's solved, now let's look at the real problems".
I d'know...maybe this is splitting hairs, but, well... Okay, I've lettered comics myself, and read more than my fair share of them; I'm no expert, but I know a little about the craft. That said... "Yes, I know. Bring me the Icebreakers, please," are in the same balloon, the "I know" part referring to the unauthorized launch. Now, if I were lettering this thing--and I'm not, so take this with a grain of salt--if acknowledging the unauthorized launch and assembling the Icebreakers weren't related, I'd have put them in separate balloons. Like I said, that may be splitting hairs, but... Heh, I've seen equally confusing panels/balloons in professional comics, so I wouldn't begrudge Han too much on this one.
Oh and happy birthday.

You know...like when a TV show does a double-parter and you wait aaaaallll week for the next episode, then they don't resolve the cliffhanger till halfway through? I could chew glass. Yeah, true. But if I were the Captain, I'd be thinking that catching the folks running away would kinna take priority over briefings. No point in letting Toat and BG get a big ol' lead while giving the Icebreakers a lengthy explanation, never mind the freak-out one or two of them might have over Hammer. Better to send them out now, with somewhat less baggage and in time to do some good, I'd say. Like I said, I was kinna going out on a limb on that one... Quote: Oh and happy birthday.

Better to send them out now, with somewhat less baggage and in time to do some good, I'd say. The question here is why go after Toat? What damage Toat could do has already been done when she sent the transmission back to the Terran Navy. She's on the run in a small ship and so is pretty much out of Captain Rob's hair now. Also she's taken that traitor BG with her.
In terms of priorities, Rob is much more interested in catching Captain Four-eyes, since unlike Toat he has something she wants (Hammer). If Captain Rob went after Toat that would just make it harder to catch up to the Risae Colony.
All things being equal I'm sure Rob would love to clean up that little "loose-end", particularly since letting her go now could come back to haunt her in the future. But as it stands all things aren't equal, so I suspect she'll just say 'good riddance to bad rubbish' and ignore Toat in favor of catching up to Risae.
Hopefully we'll see a new page this weekend, because otherwise I suspect we won't see another page until the new year as Han takes his traditional Holiday Break. Of course I'm truly impressed with the output Han has managed thus far considering his real life situation. So I'll take whatever he gives us with great appreciation.

I suppose you have a point...unless there's something we don't already know, I guess. Quote: She's on the run in a small ship and so is pretty much out of Captain Rob's hair now. Also she's taken that traitor BG with her. I'm having a hard time really condemning BG. Yeah, her loyalties were split and she had moments of weakness, but I can't help feeling that she was deliberately goaded in the debriefing. To what end, I'm not sure...but... Actually, if I didn't know any better, I'd say that BG is some sort of plant, sent with a post-hypnotic trigger, doesn't even know she's a spy, sort of like Talia in Babylon 5. She's now in Toat's confidence...perhaps this is all a ruse to find out things Toat knows that she wouldn't otherwise tell anyone. Hell, that would even kinna fit with Mistabi's Dream in a weird sort of way. ...yes, I DO have a suspicious mind, why do you ask? And why are you backing away slowly? It would also explain why Toat and BG may still be an issue and need to be followed. Quote: Hopefully we'll see a new page this weekend... Well, Friday is a normal comic day; hopefully we'll get one on the morrow. Well, yeah...I have enough friends with kids and jobs to be able to sympathize.
But, darn it, today's been one of those days where not ONE of the online comics I read has an update; I am a cranky RocketGirl.
Ah, the war between compassion and selfishness...I fight it on a nearly constant basis.

Try Sluggy Freelance, Scholck Mercenary, Sinfest, Domonic Deegan, Least I Could Do, Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic, Evil inc., Questionable Content. Almost always every single day.

It would also explain why Toat and BG may still be an issue and need to be followed. Yeah, I was being a little harsh on BG there, but to be fair, I was writing from Captain Rob's perspective there. That last look at BG as they escaped seemed to suggest that she wasn't entirely happy about her actions either.
As for the 'BG as plant' theory, I don't know. While Captain Rob has shown a considerable amount of smarts and tactical awareness, I don't get that truly devious vibe from her. To pull something like that off would require 'super-villain'-levels of deviousness, IMHO.

Well...suppose it not exactly voluntary on BG's part. A post-hypnotic trigger of some kind that was woven into her psyche during Mistabi's Dream, for example. All that has to happen is BG gets a kind of trigger that turns her into a spy, all without her conscious knowledge...
If you'd seen the episode of Babylon 5 that I'd referenced, you'd know where I'm coming from, here.
